The Austral-Armenian Association Inc. (AAA) was formed in 1974 to serve an important purpose of promoting the general welfare of Armenians, in line with other ethnic communities, residing in Australia. We are a totally neutral organisation.
Our aims and objectives are:-
The Association’s success over the years has been greatly due to our Armenian community, by means of memberships, donations and support.
Over the years, as more and more Armenians joined the Australian community, more clubs and social services emerged, the church assumed additional responsibilities, and it established itself as the central service. AAA has kept the same principles that they started with but have had to alter the association’s objectives to change with the times.
The associations’ property, at Frenchs Forest, is still considered as neutral ground; this means that we still promote that all Armenians are equal regardless of where they originated from or the dialect spoken. Although we no longer provide the various cultural, legal or civil services that we started with, we still believe in helping our patrons the best we can.
Officially opened in March 1982 as The Austral-Armenian Centre. The hall was built to hold private functions ranging from Discos to Dinner Dance Fund Raising Events. The funds raised were used to provide community support for all Armenians to help them blend into the Australian Society and Culture more easily.
It was in the early 2000’s that the hall had a major renovation, a modernisation, and the building name was changed to the Galstaun Reception Centre and then renamed again in 2013 as the Galstaun Function Centre.
We have currently stopped all internal Association functions, and hiring the main hall out, due to building repairs after major flooding, but we are also using this time to renovate as well.
